One, of course, wonders how these new technologies fit into the world of fine art and craft, if at all. I think the ultimate response depends upon the artist, but, for me, I could really see these types of technologies being a very useful tool for bringing my ideas to life. The question, of course, becomes whether or not any artwork produced using these technologies would still be considered "artwork." I'm know there are some who would consider such items to be of less merit than those items that are produced by hand, leading to the question as to which is more important? The idea or the execution of the idea. I'm still working through this question myself, but I think being able to use and understand the technologies being used to create the artwork certainly helps to make the artwork more acceptable.
