Which leads to the next great opportunity that was offered me at the end of this week. Yesterday, I got an acceptance e-mail from the admissions department of Ft. Hays State University offering me a place in their MFA program. I have been wanting to pursue an MFA for a number of years, but was never able to find a program that would be compatible with the needs of my family, until someone told me about the low residency program at FHSU. I will need to go to the school twice a semester for a long weekend, but will be able to do most of the work here at home. I feel that my work is at a point where it would greatly benefit from the crucible of grad school and I have the support network of mentors and studio equipment that I will need to make this endeavor successful.
At the same time, it is a big step and, like all big life changes, it's a bit intimidating. Kind of like having a baby, it's going to mean a lot of hard work on my part, but it should be well worth it. Just look at the two great kiddos that I have. If my MFA experience can turn out half as good as they have then I should be in great shape.
My last big change is that I turned 40 just over a week ago. By and large, so far 40 is turning out to be pretty good....I just need the darn car to quit misbehaving!
Hope you all have had a great week and don't forget to stop by the pottery sales for the Colorado Potters Guild and Foothills Parks and Rec next weekend. Yep, two sales in one weekend. Oy!
