The other day I came down to my studio with the intention of cleaning up the studio a bit as the first step to developing a new line of work that I've been thinking of. As I walked over to my desk, I turned around and saw my footprints left in the carpet where I had walked. "Well, that's odd," I thought to myself. I went back to investigate and found that the carpet was soaked through. (Now, admittedly, carpet in a ceramic studio isn't the most ideal flooring, but that's another conversation...) After opening the utility closet I found that our hot water heater was leaking...I'm not sure for how long since it had been a few days since I was able to get down here.
To make a long story short, three days later we have hot water. I did start cleaning things out a bit, mostly to make room for all the things that needed to be moved so that the carpet could start drying. It still smells a bit musty down here, but at least it's a nice day and I can open the windows. Hopefully everything will finish drying before it gets really cold.
Now, off to clean the studio!
