I am now in the process of making small grouping of slip cast pieces that will eventually be combined to form large scale pieces that will be used to create a filled space installation at Spark Gallery this coming February. More to come on this show, but I am excited to have the opportunity to create such a work so soon after my show at Spark this summer. This show will be an exciting new direction for my work and I can't wait to see everything come together.
In addition to my work in the studio, I have also been busy working at the community college. We are hosting a workshop with the artist Blaire Meerfeld this coming weekend. This is a great opportunity to see some new building and finishing techniques as Blaire specializes in salt-fired work. After this workshop, I will be heading out to Hays, KS the following weekend for a short workshop with Jonathan Kaplan focusing on mold making and slip casting. While I am in Hays, I will be hosting a meeting with my graduate committee to see if they think I am ready to pass on to thesis level. While it has been quite the journey, it's also surprising to think that I am nearly 3/4 done with the program and that my thesis show is on the horizon!
