At the same time, I do feel like my hands are one of my greatest features. How many people can take a lump of mud and turn it into something beautiful and long lasting using their hands? Women spend so much money "getting their nails done" each year, but, in the end, they really have nothing to show for it. I have friends who enjoy getting a manicure and they find it to be a nice, relaxing experience, but, personally, I would much rather spend that time working in the studio actively destroying the look of my hands. There is nothing more relaxing and meditative than throwing at the wheel, making something beautiful. It's really great to know that my hands are strong and sure and can be used to make a thing of beauty.
So, keep your manicures. I'll stick with my clay treatments ;)
