We tend to think of courage as something exhibited by people in great situations. The soldier facing an advancing army, the mountain climber tackling Everest, the athlete training for the Ironman. These people all exhibit a great deal of courage, but there is also courage in getting up every morning and going after "it" again, no matter what your "it" is. Taking care of a family requires a great deal of courage, to take care of things with little thanks and little reward, but knowing that it's up to you to show up and get things done. Same for the day to day job, the grinding pursuit of your dream, despite the periodic setbacks.
But there's another kind of courage that I am currently seeing in someone in my life now. That's the courage just to get up every morning when you don't know how many mornings you have left to see. The courage to face the difficulty and uncertainty with a sweet smile on your face really impresses me.
