So, how do you mitigate risk while still allowing yourself the freedom to explore? How do you allow yourself to fail, thus allowing yourself to succeed?
I did have an experience earlier this semester where I was happily trying something new, only to have those pieces fail in the end. My response was to take the disappointment that I felt and channel it into a new way of working, expressing my anger and disappointment through broken pieces added to a ceramic form. I think I may have stumbled upon something in the process because I do feel that this piece is my most successful of the semester, even if it is a little hard for me to look at.
Now to finish off the semester and then move on to the next thing.
